Then thereโ€™s the much-awaited Mutya ng Tubod where their prettiest lasses in a pageant of grace, style & wit sashayed down the ramp. However, it wasn’t only about the usual beauty contest that we know of. It was also about creative ensembles of banana raw materials like processed fibers & leaves turned into creative fashion expressions.

But among all other events, the street dancing & showdown competition was the most anticipated crowd-drawing spectacle. Showcasing the various cultural influences of the town, the streets of Tubod flooded with unimaginable colors & music.

Strikingly, whatโ€™s wonderful about Sagingan Festival is its attempt to curate its own set of street dancing movements & music.

These carefully studied dance steps & music specific to the street dancing is a first in all of Mindanao festivals. All these elements are creatively woven into a narrative inspired from a local folktale. It circles around the story of the stolen banana heart, a plague & the redemption by mythical fairies & heroes.

While Sagingan Festival is already a force to look out for in the province-wide festival, it still is making its way into joining the roll of must-experience festivals in the country. But with its steadfast commitment to making it more exciting, it surely holds a bright promise. Come to Sagingan Festival because nowhere else is this humble banana given so much revelry than here.

    Good evening Ma’am/Sir
This site is very well-made and could really attract tourists.
But I have a question and hopefully this will be noticed (even if its quite late already)
What folktale was the Sagingan Festival dance all about? Hopefully this comment will be noticed ^^

Hi Mik. It’s a local folktale about how their town came about. I just don’t remember anymore the title. However, it’s the usual folktale elements: an abundant town, plagued & plundered, saved by a mythical hero, then came the “puso ng saging”.
