If you think that there’s nothing more to Bulacan other than the heritage town of Malolos, then let San Rafael River Adventure surprise you. Naaah, this isn’t the typical resort in Bulacan where you find waterparks with wave pools & mega statues of dinosaurs & gorillas. This one’s chic & quaint but never short of fun.

San Rafael River Adventure is in Brgy. Talacsan, San Rafael, Bulacan —– just an hour away from the Balintawak exit of North Luzon Expressway. And if you’re looking for someplace new, near & nice, then this spot is truly swoon-worthy.

Waterparks with lots of screaming & faux monuments of what-have-yous aren’t just my kind of fun. I prefer spots that are quiet but not boring, full of character but not overbearing. San Rafael is surely a lovely place for a quick escape if you are into this kind of thing.

Stylish accommodations are among its winning features. Its villas are done in a seamless blend of sparkling glass, barn wood & steel all set in a dreamy forest ambience. Some suites creep to a blooming garden, some hides among trees & others open to a lovely river view.

I love the sophisticated execution of its glass curtain walls because it tickles sexy imaginations. From the inside, the playful medley of light & shadow, the dazzling greens & stillness all seal the architectural drama. Its modernist feel, the simplicity of lines & muted colours amidst a verdant setting express the harmony of new age design & oneness with nature.

Feel like camping out by the river? Forget about the usual spartan tent living because here everything is leveled-up into glamping. And if having a mattress, a bonfire & round-the-clock service isn’t glamorous enough, wait ‘til you see their tents pitched on floating rafts. Imagine yourself stargazing at night serenaded by an orchestra of crickets—-ahhh gorgeous!

San Rafael River Adventure is a wonderland for watersports fanatics. Here you can go kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding & boating along Angat River. Or you can rev-up a jetski or go slow on fishing. They also have a huge inflatable playground decked with slides, towers & bridges. Remember those super fun banana boat rides in Boracay? Well, they have it here too.

If you like land-based activities, you can tour its sprawling property on an ATV or on a horse. Either way, you are sure to be delighted with its countryside scenery peppered with mango orchards, ricefields & bamboo trails.

SRRA as many also know it is an events place where intimate gatherings like weddings are held. It also caters to corporate events like team building activities & parties.

One of the best moments I had at San Rafael River Adventure was the sunset cruise. Aboard a bamboo hut decked on a raft, we sailed around the placid river watching the sky bleed its golden glow. Over local snacks, zesty refreshments & some shameless Ariana Grande beltings, it was indeed a joyful afternoon.

Bulacan has always been an “oh-by-the-way” place. But now with so many wonderful spots sprouting everywhere, tourists are starting to make it a quick weekend destination. And with San Rafael River Adventure as the latest & most chic addition to its tourism development, holidaymakers are beginning to appreciate that Bulacan is truly worthy beyond just a daytrip.
