The OMG House in Puerto Princesa, Palawan actually stands as an acronym of the hostel’s owners. But for its price, comfort & service, OMG has lived on to take the expression’s meaning, it being surprisingly awesome.

OMG is a modest guesthouse for backpackers who are seriously traveling on a shoestring budget. Finding real backpacker places in Puerto Princesa can be a challenge because hardcore backpacking, to begin with, only gained popularity in the recent years when low-cost airlines started to fly regularly to the islands like Palawan.

Budget travelers would easily understand what we mean by backpacker inns: nothing fancy but comfortable, affordable but not dirt cheap and always filled with fantastic guests. Well, here’s one happy place for you!

The Price, OMG!

Room choices at OMG are kept simple to maintain the price.

Starting at P300 (about $6) for big bunk beds in a dorm room that comfortably fits about 12 people, this is already a good steal. Ceiling fans ventilate the room and it has its own toilet & bath.

Private rooms are also available for travelers who prefer sleeping privacies. The rate starts at P350 or around $7 per person. It comes in double, triple or quadruple beds. You may choose to take the entire room to yourself but you’ll have to shoulder the rest of the bed count. Some of these rooms have its own toilet & bath inside.

It has 2 common areas for guests to socialize: in the lobby on the main building and in the outdoor chill zone. Both sections have WIFI access and are provided with electrical sockets.

The chill zone, designed like a beach bar is the most popular hangout because it has a booze counter! Its pocket garden has a quiet nook with a hammock if you want to just laze around.

OMG is actually a residential place converted into a guesthouse. However simple it is, the place is always kept clean and bright. Conveniently located in the happening street of the city, OMG is surrounded with banks, cafes, groceries, bars and restaurants.

The Service, OMG!

This is what they brag about and what most guests say about OMG. Everyone here is accommodated like a home guest. The staff and the owners are very warm and helpful. Filipinos are known for impeccable hospitality value and at OMG this is not something unusual.

They help you find good deals for everything like booking tours that are not meant to rip you off. OMG assists every guest and creates in-house activities to make your stay worthwhile.

Probably just like you, I have stayed in many backpacker houses in the world and what we always look for is the happy vibe. A place where we can meet other travelers in their OMG! moments.

This is why you should stay at OMG.
